Black Enterprise gathered a slew of brand building tips for those who either don’t want to focus on social media now or want to go beyond the basics. One of the tips they curated was mine, which is to guest blog as much as you can. It gives great credibility and it’s a win-win for all involved. You can submit articles to the big magazines like Forbes, or reach out to smaller platforms. It’s a free, fast way to both network and get your brand mentioned in diverse ways.

You can also pitch to journalists who don’t necessarily welcome guest blogs but are on the lookout to interview leaders. A great resource is Haro, where you get two curated lists of journalists looking each weekday. As a business owner or entrepreneur, it’s free for you to join. Others recommend holding events, especially if you have event coordination savviness in your skillset.

If you offer products, connect with product reviewers. They have incredible reach and are often eager to get and test out the latest products for their readers. Social media is just the tip of the iceberg, albeit an important one. Why not explore everything else?
