Upstart Business Journal asked me and seven other entrepreneurs (and some who weren’t!) about the best side businesses. These side ventures can make the difference between being a millionaire or not. For me, it’s always been about freelancing. It can really bridge the gap, especially if you regularly check out freelance sites like Elance.com, Freelancer.com or oDesk.com.

Similarly, doing “quick gigs” fall into this category, which is what one of my colleagues recommends. You can find these gigs on similar sites, or even check out the Gigs or Etc. categories on  Craigslist.com. Becoming an affiliate is another savvy move, and can ultimately lead to a totally passive income.

Starting a blog, and getting it monetized, takes a little more prep work but can pay off handsomely if you do it well. Creating eGuides is a quick and easy source of income if you’re a fast writer, while becoming a consultant is a great venture that can lead to high profits. Starting a podcast might be more up your alley, and remember that selling on eBay and other sites is also a great avenue.
