If you want to know the most horrific marketing blunders, ask a marketing pro! We have an eagle eye for mistakes in our industry. When WiseStamp asked me and 12 other marketing gurus, what immediately popped into my mind was the unfortunate United Airlines retweet. There was some inappropriate airplane happenings going on, and the photo was meant to be marked as spam—but was instead retweeted!

It was only up for 45 minutes, but it was enough to cause a big commotion. The lesson? Retweets are right next to the spam button. It’s very easy to make this mistake, so double check whenever you’re moving items to spam. For United, the airline didn’t even know the photo was up for those 45 minutes!

Other great examples include accidentally deleting (not just hiding!) an entire website. There are also many LinkedIn faux pas, such as not knowing proper etiquette—and ultimately getting admonished by someone you admire. There’s also the mistake of posting an infographic (or any content) and not posting the original source. It makes you look like you’re plagiarizing even when that’s not your intent.
